Sustainable finance is redistributing the cards for employability in banks

Regulations, the fight against greenwashing, climate and environmental commitments have all contributed to the development of careers in banking and finance. Here's an overview.

"Certain banking institutions have incorporated ESG criteria into their standard routines already for a longtime, yet advisers still have a lot of understanding to do," says Carine Casteu. With the emergence of sustainable finance, she believes that everyone needs to improve their skills: bankers and clients alike. "Those who don't know how to answer questions are often uncomfortable". Furthermore she deplores "a moral bias that influences the answers to these social questiona". In other words, clients are not always interested in environmental, social and governance issues, but they don't express this, "in order to take a stance which appears politically correct", she suggests.
